A heartbreaking incident unfolded at Smugglers Notch Resort in Cambridge, Vermont, where a 3-year-old boy tragically lost his life after falling into a water storage tank connected to the splash pad. The incident occurred on July 6th around 2:45 p.m. while the young boy, Tate Holtzman, was walking near the splash pad area. Lifeguards on duty swiftly responded, pulling Holtzman from the tank after approximately 10 minutes. He was immediately transported to a local hospital but was sadly pronounced dead.
According to Vermont State Police, Holtzman was participating in a day camp program at the resort when the incident took place. The medical examiner has ruled the death an accidental drowning. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. The resort has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
