Social media star and podcast host Alix Earle recently shared a humorous anecdote about the early days of her relationship with Miami Dolphins wide receiver Braxton Berrios. Celebrating their one-year anniversary, Earle recounted a slightly embarrassing moment when her initial "I love you" was met with a less-than-enthusiastic response from Berrios.
The incident occurred before the Dolphins' season opener last year. Earle, enjoying pre-game festivities with friends, decided to wish Berrios good luck on the field. Fueled by tequila shots, she blurted out "I love you" just as Berrios was about to head to the locker room. He responded with a bewildered look and nervous laughter before disappearing into the stadium.
Earle admitted to spending the entire game agonizing over the unreciprocated declaration. She even attempted to backpedal after the game, claiming she said it accidentally. Berrios, seemingly understanding, attributed it to the pre-game drinks. However, Earle revealed that Berrios did eventually say "I love you" back just a day later, albeit under less dramatic circumstances.
Despite the initial awkwardness, the couple clearly moved past the incident, recently commemorating their one-year anniversary with heartfelt social media posts. Earle expressed her deep affection for Berrios, calling him her "other half." Berrios, a University of Miami alumnus like Earle, was drafted into the NFL in 2018 and joined the Dolphins in 2023 after a stint with the New York Jets. He's currently on injured reserve due to a torn ACL suffered in October.
