Arizona Driver Finds Surprise Passenger: A Bobcat Under the Hood

Imagine driving to work and discovering a wild bobcat nestled under your car's hood! That's precisely what happened to a driver in Gila Bend, Arizona, a town situated about 73 miles southwest of Phoenix. The Arizona Game and Fish Department reported the unusual incident, explaining that the driver was completely unaware of his furry passenger until he parked and heard noises emanating from his vehicle's engine compartment.

Upon investigating the source of the commotion, the driver was greeted by the sight of two eyes staring back at him. Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies from District 2, which covers Gila Bend and surrounding areas, responded to the scene along with Game and Fish personnel. The team successfully tranquilized the bobcat and carefully extracted it from its cramped hiding spot behind the grille.

Remarkably, the bobcat emerged unscathed from its vehicular adventure and was subsequently released back into the wild. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Department humorously commented on the incident, noting that "District 2 is still the wild, wild west!" This unexpected encounter serves as a reminder of the diverse wildlife that can be found even in relatively populated areas of Arizona.
