Newly released surveillance footage appears to shed light on the incident between Britney Spears and San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama. The video, obtained by TMZ, seemingly shows Spears striking herself in the face after her hand was pushed off Wembanyama by his security. This comes after Spears alleged she was assaulted by Wembanyama's security when she approached him for a photo. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has concluded its investigation and has decided not to file charges.
Initial reports indicated that a member of Spears’ entourage informed police that she was backhanded in the face by Wembanyama's security guard. The guard later apologized to Spears. However, the police incident report, citing security footage, states that the guard pushed Spears' hand away, leading to her inadvertently hitting herself. This account aligns with Wembanyama’s statement where he mentioned being grabbed from behind and his security subsequently pushing the person away. He stated he did not see the interaction fully as he continued walking.
In contrast to Wembanyama’s recollection of being grabbed from behind, Spears maintains she merely tapped him on the shoulder. She described being surrounded by fans that night and emphasized that her security team did not resort to physical force with any of them. The released video appears to support the police's conclusion that no assault occurred.
