Chris Christie Spars with Trump, Criticizes Campaign Spending and Election Record

Former New Jersey Governor and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie engaged in a public exchange with former President Donald Trump, following Trump's social media post featuring a photo of Christie sleeping on a plane. Christie retorted, suggesting he resides "rent-free" in Trump's mind and soliciting campaign donations.

This latest spat highlights the escalating tensions within the Republican field as the race for the White House intensifies. Christie has been particularly vocal in his criticism of Trump, unlike many of his GOP rivals. He recently labeled Trump a "cheapskate" for using campaign funds to cover legal expenses, arguing that donors' contributions should be used to advance his candidacy, not personal legal battles.

Christie has also linked Trump to Republican election losses in recent years. In an interview, he attributed the party's setbacks in the House, Senate, and gubernatorial races to the "drama" surrounding Trump. He further criticized Trump's performance in the 2018, 2020, and 2022 elections, labeling him a "three-time loser."

In a separate interview, Christie expressed his reluctance to vote for either President Biden or Trump, citing concerns about competency and electability. He questioned Biden's age and mental acuity while asserting that Trump lacks the ability to win a general election.
