DeAndre Hopkins Joins Tennessee Titans on Two-Year Deal

Veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has agreed to terms with the Tennessee Titans, ending speculation about his free agency status. Multiple sources reported the agreement on Sunday, with A to Z Sports indicating the deal is expected to be finalized within the next few days.

The two-year contract is reportedly worth approximately $26 million, according to NFL Network. Hopkins, 31, was released by the Arizona Cardinals in May and had been sought after by several teams, including the New England Patriots, who were rumored to be contenders for his signature. He ultimately chose the Titans, a team looking to bolster its offensive capabilities.

Hopkins, a first-round pick by the Houston Texans in 2013, spent seven seasons with the team, earning four Pro Bowl selections and three First-Team All-Pro honors. A blockbuster trade sent him to the Cardinals in 2020, where he continued to perform at a high level, earning another Pro Bowl nod in his first season. However, injuries and a suspension limited his playing time in the subsequent two years.

DeAndre Hopkins prepares for the snap

In nine games last season, Hopkins recorded 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns. The Titans, who finished 7-10 in 2022 and ranked low in points scored and yards gained, are hoping Hopkins can revitalize their offense. He joins a team that has heavily relied on running back Derrick Henry, and will aim to fill the void left by Robert Woods, who led the Titans in receiving yards last year before departing for the Texans.

The Titans are currently evaluating their quarterback situation, with Ryan Tannehill, Malik Willis, and Will Levis vying for the starting role. The addition of Hopkins should provide a significant boost to whoever earns the starting job.
