Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) recently expressed his belief that both Hunter Biden and former President Donald Trump deserve pardons, asserting that the legal proceedings against them were politically driven. In an interview, Fetterman argued that the cases damaged public trust in institutions and exemplified the dangerous trend of using legal processes as political weapons.
Fetterman's comments came shortly after President Biden pardoned his son, Hunter, a move that drew criticism from various quarters, including some within the Democratic party. Fetterman, however, maintained that both the Hunter Biden case and the New York trial involving Trump were politically charged, and that pardons would be appropriate in both instances. He emphasized the need to prevent the weaponization of legal systems against political adversaries.

During the interview, Fetterman engaged in a discussion about the January 6th rioters and the potential for pardons under a future Trump administration. He reiterated his stance that both the Biden and Trump cases were politically motivated and that such charges likely wouldn't have been brought otherwise. He also highlighted concerns within his own party regarding the Hunter Biden case, noting the tension between calls for criminal justice reform and the condemnation of Trump as a convicted felon.

The discussion also touched on the differing opinions on the Hunter Biden pardon within "The View." While some co-hosts, like Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro, had previously advocated for a pardon, others, such as Whoopi Goldberg, defended President Biden's decision, suggesting he had simply changed his mind due to evolving circumstances. Radio host Charlamagne Tha God, however, criticized Biden for repeatedly promising not to pardon his son if he ultimately intended to do so.
