Florida Man Arrested for DUI After Pulling Out in Front of Police Cruiser

In Pinellas County, Florida, a dramatic incident unfolded when a 70-year-old man, Edward Parsons, was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) after he drove directly into the path of an oncoming police car. The arresting officer's dashcam captured the entire event, showing the moment of impact as the cruiser collided with the driver's side of Parsons' Honda Accord.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 12th, at approximately 9:07 p.m. Deputy Schiebner was traveling northbound when Parsons' vehicle suddenly emerged onto the dimly lit roadway, leading to the collision.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reported that Deputy Schiebner had no time to react and avoid the crash. Parsons reportedly exhibited signs of intoxication at the scene. The speed of the police cruiser at the time of the incident was not disclosed.

Deputy Schiebner sustained minor injuries, while Parsons' injuries were non-life-threatening. Parsons now faces charges of DUI with property damage, operating a vehicle without a Florida driver's license, and failure to register a vehicle in Florida. He was subsequently booked into the Pinellas County Jail.

Following the incident, Sergeant Amanda Sinni emphasized the importance of planning for safe transportation after consuming alcohol, urging residents to designate a driver, utilize ride-sharing services, or contact a sober friend or family member.
