A Georgia sheriff's deputy sprang into action over the weekend, rescuing a woman trapped in her burning vehicle. The dramatic rescue was recorded on the officer's body camera.
On Saturday, July 1st, Sergeant Ashleigh Taylor of the Candler County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting a car accident on Highway 46 in Metter, Georgia. Callers described a vehicle that had left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area.
The deputy's bodycam footage shows him arriving at the scene to find a red Subaru sedan engulfed in flames. Sgt. Taylor immediately rushed towards the burning car, calling out to the driver and urging her to unbuckle her seatbelt.
"Let's get out of the car," Taylor can be heard saying. "Take your seatbelt off."
Using his baton, Sgt. Taylor broke the driver's side window and pulled the woman to safety. Once she was out of the vehicle, he repeatedly asked if anyone else was inside.
The bodycam footage shows the driver appearing disoriented, clutching her arm and groaning. Sgt. Taylor then requested assistance from fellow officers to move the woman away from the burning wreckage.
The Candler County Sheriff's Office publicly commended Sgt. Taylor's quick thinking and decisive actions, which undoubtedly prevented a tragedy. They also expressed gratitude to the motorists who called 911 and stopped to offer assistance.
The woman's current condition and the events leading up to the crash have not been released. Fox News Digital's request for additional details was not immediately answered.
