A 20-year-old Albany, Georgia man, Cameron Ja’Michael Hopkins, is facing murder charges following the death of his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend, Khaliyah Jones. The incident occurred Sunday night, beginning with an alleged abduction from a Fayetteville restaurant where Jones worked. Hopkins reportedly forced Jones from the restaurant at gunpoint. Law enforcement pursued the vehicle, eventually stopping it in the parking lot of a Clayton County school. During the stop, shots were fired both at officers and within the vehicle. Police employed a chemical irritant to apprehend Hopkins. Tragically, Jones was found deceased inside the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities indicate that this was not the first instance of Hopkins allegedly kidnapping Jones, with a similar incident reported a year prior.

Hopkins is currently facing a range of charges, including kidnapping and assault in Fayetteville, as well as murder with malice and aggravated assault in Clayton County.
