Following Hailey Davidson's recent attempt to secure an LPGA tour card, golfer Olivia Schmidt, who has competed against Davidson, is calling for modifications to the LPGA's rules regarding transgender athletes. In a recent video released by the Independent Women's Forum titled "Tee Time: Keep Women's Golf Female," Schmidt expressed her concerns.
Schmidt questioned the LPGA's stance, stating, "When a large organization prioritizes the protection of a single individual over hundreds of others, it speaks volumes about their values and operational approach." She believes the LPGA is currently safeguarding a select few at the expense of the majority.

The LPGA's existing policy permits transgender athletes who have undergone hormone therapy to compete alongside cisgender women. This policy enabled Davidson's participation in qualifying events for the women's professional tour. Schmidt is advocating for a reversal of this policy.
"Ultimately, the LPGA holds the power to effect change," Schmidt asserted. "It is their responsibility to protect female athletes." She expressed her hope for policy adjustments and a path towards common ground, particularly for future generations of golfers. Schmidt envisions a future where aspiring golfers can pursue their dreams without unnecessary obstacles.

Nearly 300 players voiced their opposition to Davidson's participation in the LPGA qualifying rounds. Davidson did not advance past the second stage, finishing 95th out of 190 golfers.
Davidson has been transparent about her transition and defended her eligibility to compete. In an August Instagram post, Davidson addressed the misconception about her driving distance, stating, "The narrative that I'm outdriving everyone is a blatant falsehood." She emphasized the increasing driving distances of other female golfers and commended their abilities, suggesting that conservative media should acknowledge their skills instead of using them as a basis to criticize transgender athletes.
