Following the highly publicized defamation trial last year, Amber Heard has fulfilled the $1 million payment owed to her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. A source close to Depp confirmed that the payment, stemming from the Virginia trial's $10.35 million judgment against Heard, was received this month via Heard's insurance company. Depp, who had previously agreed to settle for $1 million, plans to divide the sum equally among five charitable organizations: Make-A-Film Foundation, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Tetiaroa Society, and the Amazonia Fund Alliance.

The 2022 trial, which captivated the nation for six weeks, concluded with the jury finding Heard liable for defaming Depp in a 2018 op-ed where she portrayed herself as a victim of domestic abuse. Heard was awarded $2 million in her countersuit. The recent payment seemingly marks the end of a protracted legal battle between the former couple, spanning over seven years and encompassing their 2015 marriage, subsequent 2016 separation, and ongoing accusations of abuse and infidelity.

As this chapter closes, Heard is focusing on reviving her acting career. She's slated to appear at the 69th Taormina Film Festival in Sicily, Italy, on June 24 for the premiere of her new film, "In the Fire." This marks her first red-carpet appearance for a film since the trial's conclusion. In the film, Heard portrays an American psychiatrist who travels to 1890s Colombia to treat a troubled child. Following the trial, Heard relocated to Madrid, Spain, with her daughter. In a recent TikTok video interview with local media, she expressed her love for Spain and her intention to remain there, confirming ongoing film projects and her determination to move forward.
