Kara Swisher Explores Bid for The Washington Post, Excluding Elon Musk

Tech journalist Kara Swisher is reportedly seeking investors to acquire The Washington Post from its current owner, Jeff Bezos. Swisher expressed her frustration with the newspaper's recent trajectory in an interview with Axios, stating, "The Post can do better… it's so maddening to see what's happening. ... Why not me? Why not any of us?"

The Washington Post has faced challenges including staff departures, financial losses, difficulty filling key roles, and declining employee morale. The paper's decision against endorsing a presidential candidate in the 2024 election, a move supported by Bezos, also drew criticism from both internal staff and readers, leading to further resignations.

Despite Swisher's interest, Bezos has not signaled any intention to sell. Furthermore, Swisher explicitly ruled out any involvement from Elon Musk in her potential investor group, telling Axios, "Hopefully not Elon, though he seems pretty busy these days being President (Not) Elect." This comment follows Musk's endorsement of President-elect Trump, which has drawn criticism from various media outlets and Democratic figures.

Musk, who acquired Twitter in 2022 and rebranded it as X, has not publicly responded to Swisher's remarks. Axios CEO Jim VandHei commented on Swisher's exclusion of Musk, suggesting on X that she anticipates competition if Bezos decides to sell and that Musk likely isn't interested in The Washington Post.

Both Swisher and The Washington Post have not yet provided a statement to Fox News Digital regarding these developments.
