Tennis star Nick Kyrgios has expressed enthusiastic support for the potential involvement of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) in professional tennis. Following reports of discussions between the ATP Tour chair and the PIF, Kyrgios voiced his approval on social media, emphasizing the potential for increased player compensation.

The PIF's interest in tennis follows its significant investments in other sports, including soccer and golf. The fund has attracted both high-profile players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema to the Saudi Pro League and has made substantial investments in teams like Newcastle United and LIV Golf, which recently merged with the PGA Tour. Furthermore, a substantial offer has reportedly been made for Formula One rights.

Tennis is already slated to have a presence in Saudi Arabia, with the NextGen finals scheduled for Jeddah in November. However, the PIF's growing influence in sports has drawn criticism and accusations of "sportswashing," aiming to improve the country's image in light of human rights concerns. While Saudi Arabia denies these allegations, the criticism persists. Kyrgios's stance contrasts with potential future critics within the tennis world, as he openly welcomes the PIF's involvement.
