The Cullman Daily's post expressed condolences and requested prayers for the affected farmer, stating, "A Cullman County farmer lost 31 cows today. They were found dead after a lightning strike hit in close proximity to them. Please pray for this farmer." WVTM 13 identified the farm's owner as Daymin Gardner and spoke with his brother, Tim Gardner, who confirmed their intention to provide the animals with a proper burial.

This incident occurred as severe thunderstorms and rain were forecast for much of northern Alabama throughout the week. Separately, an American Eagle aircraft experienced a lightning strike while on the tarmac at the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, Arkansas. The plane was able to taxi to the gate without incident and subsequently underwent inspection for potential damage.
