Rapper Nelly and country music star Jason Aldean delivered electrifying performances at the Liberty Ball, celebrating Donald Trump's inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. The event, held on Monday night, saw both artists entertain the crowd with their popular hits.
Nelly's setlist included fan favorites like "Ride Wit Me" and "Hot in Herre." He also paused to acknowledge the victims of the California fires. His appearance at the ball followed public criticism regarding his decision to perform. Nelly addressed this backlash head-on, emphasizing his respect for the office of the president and stating that his performance was an honor, not a monetary pursuit. In a conversation with rapper Willie D, Nelly, whose family has a strong military background, likened his performance to the duty of military personnel serving regardless of who holds office. A source close to Nelly confirmed to Fox News Digital that his participation stemmed from a deep respect for the presidency and the democratic process, echoing his family's history of military service.

The "Hot in Herre" rapper directly addressed critics questioning his performance in light of political controversies. He challenged those labeling Trump a white supremacist to provide evidence. He reiterated that the election was over and that Trump's victory made him the president and commander-in-chief. Nelly affirmed that he would have performed for any president, including Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, had they requested it.
Jason Aldean also captivated the audience with his performance, preceding Nelly's set. Fans on social media praised Aldean's showmanship and energy. During his set, Aldean briefly halted the performance to ensure a fan requiring medical attention received assistance, demonstrating his care for the audience. He then resumed his performance, continuing with his song "She's Country."

Earlier in the day, Carrie Underwood performed "America the Beautiful" at the inauguration ceremony held at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. A technical issue with the backing track prompted Underwood to sing a cappella, inviting the audience to join her. After her performance, she interacted with President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and former President Joe Biden. Underwood, known for her apolitical stance, had confirmed her participation the previous week, expressing her honor to be involved in the historic event.
