Comedian Pete Davidson has been formally charged with reckless driving following a March incident where he crashed his car into a Beverly Hills residence. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office confirmed the misdemeanor charge, stating that Davidson's reckless driving resulted in a significant collision, though thankfully no serious injuries occurred.
The incident took place late on March 4th when Davidson's Mercedes-Benz collided with a fire hydrant at the intersection of Rodeo Drive and Elevado Avenue. At the time, police indicated that speed was likely a contributing factor. Davidson was accompanied by a female passenger, reportedly his rumored girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders. Neither occupant of the vehicle nor anyone in the impacted house sustained injuries.
Authorities have confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the crash. Earlier that evening, Davidson had appeared at the Kids' Choice Awards. The District Attorney's office underscored the seriousness of reckless driving, citing a concerning rise in Los Angeles traffic fatalities.
Davidson and Wonders, who met while filming the 2022 movie "Bodies Bodies Bodies," have been romantically linked since late 2022. Wonders also appeared alongside Davidson in his Peacock comedy series "Bupkis." While they have not publicly addressed the car accident, a source close to the couple has indicated that their relationship remains strong.
This incident follows a recent public disagreement between Davidson and PETA regarding his purchase of a puppy. Davidson defended his decision, citing allergies, while PETA countered that hypoallergenic dogs don't exist and that his chosen breed was readily available for adoption.
