Fenway Park, the historic home of the Boston Red Sox, is embracing the nation's fastest-growing sport: pickleball. From Wednesday to Sunday, the outfield will be transformed into a pickleball paradise, hosting the Pickle4 Ballpark Series. This event offers a unique opportunity for fans to witness professional pickleball players in action and even experience the game themselves on the hallowed grounds.

The series will feature an exhibition showcasing top-ranked players from the Professional Pickleball Association Tour, with spectator tickets starting at an affordable $10. But the real draw for enthusiasts is the chance to reserve court time for $200 per person, which includes a racket. The overwhelming demand led organizers to extend the event from four days to five, and all slots quickly sold out. Following the Boston event, the series will move to Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.

Fenway Park, known primarily for baseball, has a history of hosting diverse events, from football and hockey to concerts and even Shakespeare in the Park. This latest venture into pickleball reflects the venue's ongoing commitment to providing unique experiences. Over 120,000 people attended offseason events at Fenway this past winter alone, solidifying its status as a premier entertainment destination.

Pickleball, a paddle sport combining elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, has seen explosive growth, particularly during the pandemic. Its accessibility and minimal equipment requirements have contributed to its widespread appeal. While often played on repurposed tennis courts, the Fenway setup will utilize a protective layer to preserve the baseball field's grass. Organizers emphasize that baseball remains the priority, and the pickleball event was carefully planned to avoid any disruption to the Red Sox's schedule.
