During the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, headlined by Kendrick Lamar, a man briefly disrupted the performance with a flag displaying support for Palestine and Sudan. The incident occurred as Lamar performed a medley of his hits, including "Not Like Us," "Be Humble," and "DNA," at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
The individual, initially thought to be an intruder, made his way onto the field and prominently displayed the flag during Lamar's performance of "tv off." He moved around the field with the flag before security intervened and escorted him away.
It was later clarified that the man was actually a dancer in Lamar's halftime show production. According to statements from the NFL and Roc Nation (the production company for the halftime show), the dancer had concealed the flag and unveiled it unexpectedly, deviating from the planned performance and rehearsals. The New Orleans Police Department investigated the incident to determine potential charges.
This incident coincided with former President Trump's presence at the Super Bowl, marking the first time a sitting president attended the event. The week prior to the Super Bowl, Trump had discussed the possibility of the United States taking a more active role in the Gaza Strip, aiming to bring stability to the Middle East.
