Alison Joyner, a frequent Delta Air Lines flyer, reported the loss of her Chanel and Louis Vuitton clutches, valued at a combined $4,500, to Fox 5 Atlanta.
The unsettling discovery unfolded as Joyner unpacked at her hotel, noticing her belongings in disarray and the absence of her designer bags. "I felt completely violated," she expressed to the news outlet. "The question that kept running through my mind was, 'Why me?'"
Joyner had wisely placed an Apple AirTag inside her Chanel bag before her flight. Tracking the device revealed a surprising location – 30 miles south of Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, in Senoia, Georgia, a place Joyner had never visited. "I checked my phone in disbelief," she recounted, explaining the AirTag's unexpected position.
As a Platinum SkyMiles Medallion member, Joyner expressed her shock at the incident, given her extensive history of flying with Delta. She promptly reported the missing purses to the airline. Delta responded to the local news station, stating, "While rare, Delta has zero tolerance for baggage pilferage and will investigate this matter thoroughly. We are in contact with the customer to rectify the situation."
