Turley Urges Republicans to Intensify FBI Investigation After Wray's Testimony

Following FBI Director Christopher Wray's testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, Fox News contributor Jonathan Turley has urged Republican lawmakers to adopt a more assertive approach in their investigation of the agency. Turley characterized Wray's responses on censorship as "obviously false" and "maddening" during an appearance on "Fox & Friends." He stressed the need for Congress to escalate its actions, given the director's perceived lack of cooperation and transparency.

Turley criticized Wray's apology, suggesting it focused solely on previously established violations identified by courts and Congress, while sidestepping more recent concerns. He highlighted Wray's detailed responses to questions about an FBI family day, contrasting them with what he described as evasive answers on the topic of censorship. Turley directly challenged Wray's assertion that the FBI's focus was on foreign disinformation, citing existing email evidence to the contrary. He expressed concern that the public was being misled.

Turley advocated for Republicans to utilize their subpoena power and demand the production of relevant materials. He acknowledged their increased efforts but emphasized the necessity for greater agility and aggressiveness in pursuing information during hearings.

During the heated hearing, Wray defended himself against accusations of bias against conservatives, labeling such claims as "somewhat insane." He cited his Republican registration as evidence against the allegations. Wray's statement came in response to questioning by Rep. Harriet Hageman regarding concerns about the FBI's alleged targeting of conservatives.
