Chilling surveillance footage captures the targeted assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in midtown Manhattan. The 50-year-old executive was gunned down at close range outside the Hilton Hotel on Wednesday morning by a masked assailant.
The video shows Thompson walking down the sidewalk when a man in a black hoodie and backpack approaches from behind, brandishing a handgun. The attacker fires multiple shots, the weapon seemingly jamming at one point. He then appears to strike the gun against his leg as Thompson tries to escape. The assailant continues to struggle with the pistol, potentially firing another round as the victim struggles to move.

A terrified bystander is seen fleeing the scene as the shooting unfolds. The perpetrator escaped on a bicycle through Central Park, according to the NYPD, clarifying prior reports that a Citibike was used.

The NYPD has released images of the suspect, including footage of him visiting a Starbucks. He remains at large.

A witness recounted hearing three shots and seeing a man matching the suspect's description lurking in the area all night. He described the suspect as a white male dressed in black, carrying a backpack.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul expressed her condolences and pledged support for the investigation, directing the New York State Police to assist the NYPD in bringing the perpetrator to justice.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered by New York City Crimestoppers for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

Thompson's wife, Paulette, shared her family's devastation, describing Brian as a loving father, husband, and a generous individual who lived life to the fullest.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
