During a Father's Day matchup between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees at Fenway Park, a heartwarming gesture took an unexpected turn. A fan, hoping to brighten a young boy's day, gifted him a caught foul ball. However, the youngster promptly threw the ball back onto the field, much to the surprise of his family and onlookers.

The NESN broadcast captured the moment, showing the father's unsuccessful attempt to intercept the returning ball. The boy's brother appeared stunned by the unexpected turn of events. Fortunately, the Red Sox organization stepped in to ensure the family didn't leave empty-handed. They presented the group with a signed Kenley Jansen jersey and a brand new baseball.

The game was the second part of a doubleheader, rescheduling Saturday's rained-out contest. At the time of the game, the Red Sox held a 35-35 record, trailing the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays by a significant margin. The Yankees, at 39-31, were also chasing the Rays, who were the first MLB team to reach 50 wins this season.
