Brian Walshe Trial Date Set for October 2025 in Ana Walshe Murder Case

Brian Walshe, accused of murdering his wife Ana Walshe, appeared in court on Monday, December 2, 2024, where a judge scheduled his trial for October 2025. Walshe, a Massachusetts resident, is charged with killing his wife, a real estate executive who commuted to Washington D.C., and subsequently dismembering her remains. Ana Walshe vanished on New Year's Day 2023, and her body has never been found.

Judge Diane Freniere, presiding over the case at Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham, set the trial commencement for October 21, 2025, anticipating a duration of approximately four weeks. Walshe, attired in a blue suit, aqua tie, and glasses, appeared in court with his hands shackled.

The defense has requested an investigation into potential police bias, citing the involvement of Trooper Michael Proctor, the lead investigator in both the Walshe case and the Karen Read case, which resulted in a mistrial due to Proctor's inappropriate text messages. Proctor has since been suspended without pay for unprofessional conduct, including disparaging remarks about Read. The prosecution has agreed to examine any records, such as emails or text messages, that might suggest bias within law enforcement's handling of the Walshe case, including the possibility of lost or destroyed information.

Walshe, indicted in March 2023, faces charges of first-degree murder, misleading police, and improper transport of a human body. He has pleaded not guilty. Surveillance footage from a Home Depot allegedly shows Walshe purchasing items like mops, brushes, goggles, and a utility knife, which investigators believe were used to dispose of Ana's body. Searches of trash receptacles in areas where Brian Walshe traveled after Ana's disappearance were also conducted.

Investigators discovered a hacksaw with a bone fragment in a dumpster near Walshe's mother's residence. Other items found included Ana's vaccination card, luxury accessories, boots, a purse, and a coat. Prosecutors also allege that Walshe used his son's iPad to conduct numerous Google searches related to body disposal in the days following Ana's disappearance. A motion hearing concerning DNA testing is scheduled for January 8, 2025.
