Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, recently drew criticism from PETA and social media users after sharing a photo of herself interacting with a dolphin during a vacation.
Mahomes posted the picture on Instagram with the caption, "Ever snuggled a 400lbs dolphin?" accompanied by a heart-eyes emoji. PETA responded with a lengthy comment expressing concern over the interaction, stating, "We know you love companion animals, but we hope to see you extend your compassion to marine life too."

The organization highlighted the detrimental effects of captivity on dolphins, explaining how it restricts their natural swimming patterns and can lead to health issues like stomach ulcers and premature death. PETA also pointed out the risk of disease transmission between dolphins and humans in such settings.
Echoing PETA's sentiments, several other commenters expressed disapproval of Mahomes's interaction with the dolphin. One user wrote, "No because I don’t support places that put them in captivity," while another urged Mahomes to educate herself about the hardships dolphins face in captivity.

This isn't the first time Mahomes has found herself in the midst of public debate. She's known for her outspoken nature, particularly during football season. One instance involved her taunting the Cincinnati Bengals and their fans after the Chiefs' victory in the AFC Championship game.

She also fiercely defended her brother-in-law, Jackson Mahomes, against allegations of misconduct at a Kansas restaurant.
Brittany and Patrick Mahomes have been a couple since high school and married in 2022.
