Chicago Sex Offender Sentenced to 15 Years for Child Pornography Possession

A Chicago man with a prior conviction for child pornography has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to new charges related to possessing explicit materials involving children. 41-year-old Jason Jeffries received his sentence on Wednesday following an investigation that began with a tip from the Illinois Department of Corrections. At the time of his arrest in October 2022, Jeffries was on parole for a 2017 child pornography conviction.

Investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit discovered Jeffries had 12 videos on a memory card depicting children between the ages of approximately six and eight engaged in sexually explicit acts. According to the Cook County Sheriff's Office, these videos were downloaded from the internet. This discovery led to his arrest and subsequent guilty plea.

This wasn't Jeffries' first encounter with the law. The Cook County Sheriff's Office confirmed that he had also been found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse of a minor in 2001. Following his 2022 arrest, Jeffries was held on a $1,000,000 bond.
