Conservative influencer CJ Pearson is preparing a lawsuit against New York Magazine, alleging the publication falsely depicted pro-Trump conservatives as racist in a recent cover story. The article, titled "The Cruel Kids’ Table," focused on a new generation of conservatives in Washington. Pearson takes issue with both the article's content and the cover image, which cropped out Black attendees of a Trump inauguration event.
Pearson, national co-chair of the Republican National Committee's Youth Advisory Council, told Fox News Digital that the magazine's portrayal of the event as an "all-White exclusive affair" is a blatant misrepresentation. He emphasized that the party, meant to honor key influencers of the election, was organized by a Black man and attended by numerous Black individuals, including headlining performer Waka Flocka Flame.
Pearson, whose image was also cropped from the cover, believes this was a deliberate attempt to paint the event as "KKK lite." He expressed his disgust at the magazine's alleged failure to uphold basic journalistic standards by not contacting him for comment, suggesting they had a predetermined narrative. He argues that the magazine should be held accountable for its actions.
Pearson's legal team is currently reviewing the case and plans to act swiftly. He believes it's crucial to hold the media accountable, drawing parallels to recent legal victories by former President Trump against media outlets. He views this lawsuit as part of a broader effort to combat what he perceives as unfair and biased reporting against conservatives.
New York Magazine, in a statement to Fox News Digital, defended its coverage, stating that the cover and story accurately reflect the inauguration weekend events. The magazine maintained that the cover image was simply cropped for visual presentation and that the full image was available online.
