Deion Sanders to Undergo Surgery for Blood Clots in Legs

Colorado Buffaloes head football coach Deion Sanders is scheduled for surgery on Friday to address blood clots in both legs. The procedure, as explained by Sanders himself, aims to improve blood flow to his toes, which have been a recurring concern. The news initially surfaced on "The Pat McAfee Show" via former NFL player Adam "Pacman" Jones, who shared that Sanders has been grappling with this issue since his time at Jackson State. Jones described a previous "mind-boggling" operation Sanders underwent for a similar blood clot issue in his foot, emphasizing the severity of the situation.

Sanders later confirmed the upcoming surgery on Instagram, elaborating on the blood clots in his thighs and the goal of restoring healthy blood flow to his toes. He expressed gratitude for the support and prayers he's received. While at Jackson State, Sanders faced significant foot problems, including the amputation of two toes on his left foot due to blood clots, which at times confined him to a scooter on the sidelines.

Recently, a clip from "The Pregame," a documentary series following the Colorado football season, showed Sanders consulting with medical professionals about his ongoing foot issues. He described a lack of feeling in the bottom of his foot and expressed his desire to address the problem before the season starts. During the consultation, a vascular surgeon cautioned Sanders about the potential risk of losing his foot with further procedures. While Sanders acknowledged the risk, he clarified on Thursday that amputation is not currently being considered unless the situation drastically worsens. This health challenge comes as Sanders embarks on his first season as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, following a three-year stint at Jackson State.
