Elderly Woman Robbed of Lottery Winnings in Orlando Convenience Store Attack

An 83-year-old woman was targeted and robbed of her lottery winnings outside an Orlando convenience store on Wednesday morning, sparking an ongoing investigation by the Orange County Sheriff's Office. The incident, captured on surveillance video, unfolded near the intersection of Curry Ford Road and S. Goldenrod Road.

The footage shows the victim exiting the store and heading towards her car with her winnings in hand. A man, identified by authorities as Diego Stalin Tavarez Fleury, approaches her from behind and attempts to snatch the money. A brief verbal exchange ensues.

A bystander emerges from the store and intervenes, urging Fleury to leave the woman alone. However, Fleury persists, escalating the situation into a physical struggle as he tries to wrest the cash from the elderly woman's grasp. The bystander attempts to pull Fleury away, but the assailant drags the victim through the parking lot before ultimately making off with the money.

Although the bystander tried to retrieve the stolen winnings, Fleury pushed him aside and fled the scene. He remains at large as of Wednesday evening. According to a store employee interviewed by FOX 35 Orlando, Fleury is known to loiter near the store and has a history of causing disturbances.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office has issued an arrest warrant for Fleury, charging him with robbery, sudden snatching, and battery on a person 65 or older. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Fleury's whereabouts to contact Crimeline at 1-800-423-8477.
