A Florida resident is facing charges after allegedly hitting a teenager with her truck and fleeing the scene. The incident occurred in Deltona, Florida, around 4 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon. The 16-year-old victim was riding his scooter home from Pine Ridge High School when he was struck by a black Chevrolet Silverado while crossing the street in a designated crosswalk.

The accused, identified as 37-year-old Sarah Wright, reportedly stopped briefly after the collision to check on the injured teen. However, according to an eyewitness, she then returned to her vehicle, obscured her license plate using paper and tape, and drove away. The witness was able to recall the first character on the license plate, and a nearby Ring camera recorded the truck leaving the scene.

The victim sustained a significant laceration on the back of his head and an arm injury, but remained conscious and alert. Both the victim and the witness provided descriptions of the suspect and her vehicle to law enforcement. Authorities quickly located a matching vehicle on a License Plate Reader camera in the vicinity. With the help of the Florida Highway Patrol and the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, Wright was apprehended in Flagler County.

Wright was booked into the Flagler County Jail and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries and driving with a suspended license. Her bond was set at $3,500. The injured teen received treatment for his injuries, including staples for the head laceration, and is expected to fully recover.
