From Disney to Desert: How Child Stardom Prepared Romano and Pratt for 'Special Forces'

Former Disney Channel stars Christy Carlson Romano and Kyla Pratt credit their early Hollywood experiences for their resilience on Fox's "Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test." They believe navigating the entertainment industry as children uniquely equipped them for the show's intense physical and mental challenges.

"We learned to assess situations quickly and offer support, especially when things got tough," Romano explained to Fox News Digital. "Not always being the physically strongest, we relied on emotional intelligence and connection." Pratt echoed this sentiment, adding, "There's a certain pressure growing up in this industry that instills a 'never give up' attitude. We weren't about to be the ones who messed up."

The duo joined a diverse cast, including Stephen Baldwin, Brody Jenner, and several athletes, for the grueling challenges overseen by British special forces. These trials ranged from traversing the rugged Welsh terrain to enduring frigid ocean drills and even a hostage rescue scenario.

Romano, a fan of the show, expressed pride in their performance and highlighted the resilience of child actors who have participated. "We left it all in Wales, giving 200%," she stated. Pratt shared how people often remark on how "normal" she seems, reflecting, "We took our experiences, learned from them, and chose not to let them negatively impact us." This optimistic outlook fostered camaraderie among the cast, helping them overcome the demanding challenges. "We came from different walks of life, but facing these experiences together forged a strong bond," Pratt explained.

Romano emphasized the show's focus on teamwork, not competition. "It's about uplifting each other so everyone can succeed," she said, acknowledging the emotional toll of seeing castmates leave. Fellow participant Carey Hart, a motocross professional, saw the show as a chance to push his physical limits after recent injuries. "I can't always go 100% in my day job anymore," Hart admitted, "so this was an opportunity to truly lay it all on the line." His wife, singer Pink, supported his decision, albeit with a playful jab about his "idiotic" tendencies.

Stephen Baldwin, another cast member, also found the experience transformative and leaned on his faith to navigate the challenges. He described the show's "shock value and surprise fear factor" as the most difficult aspects to overcome.
