In a touching tribute to Tiger Woods' late mother, Kultida Woods, organizers of the Genesis Invitational have unveiled a special commemoration. The par-4 seventh hole will feature a plain white flag, devoid of any logos or text, as a mark of respect for Kultida's Buddhist faith.
According to the PGA Tour, white and the number seven hold significant meaning in Buddhism, representing purity, enlightenment, and knowledge. Kultida, often called Tida, was born in Thailand, whose flag also incorporates white stripes, further symbolizing Buddhist principles.

The seventh hole at Torrey Pines also carries personal significance for Woods, marking his U.S. Open victory in 2008, where he triumphed over Rocco Mediate in a playoff.

Earlier this month, Woods expressed his deep sorrow at his mother's passing, describing her as a powerful and spirited individual. He announced his withdrawal from the 2025 Genesis Invitational to grieve.

Kultida met Earl Woods, Tiger's father, during his military service in Thailand. They married and initially settled in Brooklyn, New York, before moving to Cypress, California, where Tiger was born. Earl passed away in 2006. Tiger's given name, Eldrick, is a combination honoring both parents, starting with "E" for Earl and ending with "K" for Kultida.
