Miami Heat president Pat Riley has addressed the swirling trade rumors surrounding Jimmy Butler, putting an end to speculation about the star player's future with the team. In a statement, Riley firmly declared that the Heat are not trading Butler, emphasizing that the rumors have become a distraction for the team and are unfair to the players and coaches.

The rumors began with an ESPN report suggesting Butler wanted to leave Miami after six seasons. The report indicated the Heat were open to trade offers before the February 6th deadline. This was followed by a Miami Herald report claiming Butler's desire to depart stemmed from the team's silence on the trade speculation.
Riley's statement directly contradicts these reports, reaffirming the Heat's commitment to Butler. The veteran player is currently averaging 18.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 20 games this season.
Looking ahead, Butler is not expected to exercise his $52.4 million player option for next season. The Miami Herald also reported the Heat's reluctance to extend his contract through the 2026-27 season. This raises the possibility that Butler, who will be 36 next season, might explore other teams.

Butler's NBA journey began with the Chicago Bulls, where he played for six seasons after being drafted 30th overall from Marquette in 2011. A three-time All-Star with the Bulls, he also earned the Most Improved Player award in the 2014-15 season. Following his time in Chicago, Butler had brief stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers before joining the Heat in 2019.

Since arriving in Miami, Butler has become a key figure in the Heat organization, earning two All-Star selections in the past six seasons.
