Davonte Pack, a close friend of NBA star Ja Morant, has been taken into custody following an assault charge linked to a July 2022 incident. A lawsuit alleges that both Morant and Pack were involved in a physical altercation with a teenager. Pack's arrest occurred nine days after a warrant was issued. The incident stemmed from a pick-up basketball game at Morant's home. During the game, a pass from the teenager accidentally struck Morant in the face, leading to a confrontation. Pack later admitted he had no justification for hitting the then-17-year-old. Following the fight, the teenager allegedly threatened Morant's family, prompting Morant to file a police report. Morant has stated he acted in self-defense, claiming the teen was the aggressor. Morant has been involved in separate incidents related to displaying a firearm, resulting in suspensions from the NBA. Pack has also been previously banned from the Memphis Grizzlies' home arena for a separate altercation. Pack is expected in court shortly, while Morant has not faced any criminal charges in relation to this incident.
