Kansas City Chiefs safety Justin Reid has extra incentive to perform well in Super Bowl LIX. A win would not only contribute to a historic third consecutive Super Bowl victory for the Chiefs, a feat unmatched since the AFL-NFL merger, but it also holds special personal significance. The game takes place in New Orleans, just a short distance from Reid's hometown of Prairieville, Louisiana.
To share this momentous occasion with loved ones, Reid has reportedly purchased around 30 tickets for family and friends, a considerable expense given the average Super Bowl ticket price hovering near $7,900, according to StubHub. As Reid jokingly told the Kansas City Star, "We’re excited to play, and we’re chasing glory. But we’ve got to win just for me to break even."
While players typically receive two complimentary tickets and have the option to purchase additional ones (up to 13 in Super Bowl LVII), securing such a large number necessitates venturing into the secondary market, driving up the cost. The financial outlay for tickets adds an interesting dimension to Reid's Super Bowl experience. However, a Chiefs victory comes with a substantial financial reward – players received a $164,000 bonus for winning Super Bowl LVII.
Reid, who joined the Chiefs in 2022 after four seasons with the Houston Texans, is currently playing under a three-year, $31.5 million contract, earning $9.99 million this season. He has been a key contributor to the Chiefs' dominant 15-2 regular season record, tallying 87 tackles and two interceptions. His playoff performances have also been impactful, with five tackles against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship and seven against the Houston Texans in the divisional round.
