In a disturbing incident at Allegro Pizza in Thousand Oaks, California, a man identified as Robert Haight attacked a cook with lighter fluid and a knife. The incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon just before the restaurant opened. Haight entered the pizzeria with his small dog and, without provocation, doused the cook with lighter fluid. Initially mistaking the liquid for water, the cook quickly realized the danger upon smelling the gasoline. Haight then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and pursued the cook, who retreated while holding a chef's knife and a head of lettuce.

The confrontation spilled into the parking lot, where a bystander intervened, only to be sprayed with lighter fluid himself. This bystander then reportedly knocked Haight unconscious. A witness described the scene to FOX 11 LA, recounting the suspect's bleeding head and the bystander's warning to stay away. Police swiftly arrived and apprehended Haight. He faces charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and assault with a caustic chemical, with bail set at $500,000. Haight's dog was taken to an animal shelter.
