Modi Echoes Trump's Slogan: 'Make India Great Again' (MIGA)

During a White House visit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi channeled President Donald Trump's campaign rhetoric, introducing his own version: "Make India Great Again," or "MIGA." The two leaders met to discuss various bilateral issues, including trade, economic cooperation, and military sales.

In a joint press conference, Modi outlined India's focus on its heritage and its ambitious development goals for 2047. He stated, "Inspired by a familiar American phrase, our vision for a developed India is to 'Make India Great Again,' or MIGA." He further emphasized the potential of a collaborative approach, suggesting that "MAGA plus MIGA creates a mega partnership for prosperity."

President Trump announced significant military developments, including the sale of F-35 fighter jets to India and a multi-billion dollar increase in military sales. He also revealed the approval of Tahawwur Rana's extradition, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin implicated in the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks. This extradition will allow Rana to face justice in India.

Addressing the issue of illegal immigration, Modi affirmed India's willingness to accept deported Indian citizens from the United States. He emphasized that individuals residing illegally in another country have no right to remain there. Both India and the U.S. share this perspective, and India is prepared to repatriate any verified Indian citizen residing illegally in the U.S.
