A recently introduced bill in Tennessee proposes renaming Nashville International Airport to Trump International Airport. Filed by Republican State Representative Todd Warner, House Bill 217 mandates the metropolitan airport authority to implement the name change, encompassing tasks like updating signage, trademarks, contracts, and official documentation across local, state, and federal levels. During the transition, the airport could operate under its current name with the addition of "doing business as Trump International Airport" or "d/b/a Trump International Airport." If the bill passes, the name change would become official on January 1, 2026.

This isn't the first attempt to dedicate an airport to former President Trump. In April 2024, a group of House Republicans sought to rename Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia in his honor. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, the House GOP's chief deputy whip at the time, introduced the bill, arguing that no symbol better represented freedom, prosperity, and strength than welcoming travelers to "Trump International Airport" upon landing in the U.S. This would make it the second D.C.-area airport named after a Republican president, following Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Rep. Barry Moore supported the previous effort, believing it fitting to honor another great president in this way. Rep. Paul Gosar agreed, suggesting that naming both D.C. airports after Reagan and Trump would recognize two of America's best presidents.
