This incident follows a recent online message from a pro-ISIS group urging attacks during the New Year's period in the US, Europe, and Russia.
The pro-ISIS message, circulated on Telegram, called on Muslims living in these regions to "turn their feast into mourning." The chilling message encouraged violence and referenced religious justifications for attacks against "Crusaders." It urged followers to seize opportunities and attack "like a hungry lion attacks its heedless prey."
This tragedy in New Orleans comes shortly after a suspected terror attack at a Christmas market in Germany. A psychiatrist from Saudi Arabia was arrested in connection with the December 20th incident, which claimed five lives and injured over 200 people.
