Ravens' Michael Pierce Makes Smart Play, Opts for Slide After First Career Interception

Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Michael Pierce secured his first career interception in a decisive victory against the Cleveland Browns, choosing a celebratory slide over a risky touchdown return.

Intercepting Bailey Zappe's pass, Pierce had an open field ahead of him. After a short six-yard run, the 355-pound lineman wisely slid, prioritizing securing the win over a potentially meme-worthy moment.

Pierce explained his decision, referencing the potential for viral embarrassment if he attempted a longer return. "There's a long history of big-guy interceptions and fumbles becoming memes," he stated. He prioritized a smart play, adding, "The bus was out of gas."

An undrafted free agent in 2016, Pierce has been a key player for the Ravens. After a brief stint with the Minnesota Vikings, he returned to Baltimore. Saturday's game marked his 99th career appearance.

Expressing his excitement, Pierce admitted, "I'm glad I caught it. I got fairly decent hands." He reiterated his focus on smart football, emphasizing his desire to avoid becoming an internet sensation for the wrong reasons.
