A Mexican national with a history of criminal offenses and deportations was indicted in South Carolina for illegally re-entering the U.S. after a DUI arrest. Sergio Ixtepan-Toto, 36, was apprehended in Pickens, South Carolina, on December 6, 2024, after nearly colliding with another vehicle. Police reports indicate Ixtepan-Toto disregarded a stop sign, leading officers on a brief pursuit before being cornered in a parking lot. He subsequently failed a sobriety test and was found with open beer cans in his vehicle. Ixtepan-Toto had a Mexican identification card and was released on local charges but detained by ICE on December 9. ICE records reveal Ixtepan-Toto was previously deported in May 2020, November 2022, and February 2024, with no record of authorized re-entry permission. His criminal history in South Carolina dates back to 2008, including charges for speeding, driving without a license, domestic violence, indecent exposure, and four prior DUIs.
