Following the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, actress and TV personality Ricki Lake has been coping with the immense loss of her home and cherished possessions. Among the most painful losses were photo albums documenting the home birth of her son, Owen, in 2001. While the event was captured in her documentary, "The Business of Being Born," the tangible photo album held immense sentimental value.
In a heartwarming turn of events, one of Lake's birth doulas, Jennifer Lickson, contacted her after hearing about the fire and offered copies of the precious birth photos. Lake expressed her profound gratitude for this unexpected act of kindness, stating that it was "the nicest thing anyone’s ever done" for her. She acknowledged having the film of the birth but emphasized the irreplaceable significance of the photo album. "It’s the little things that are the biggest things of all," she reflected.

Lake has been open about the challenges she's faced since the fire, expressing gratitude for the support she's received while also acknowledging the difficulty of rebuilding her life. She shared that she's lost numerous irreplaceable items, including the original signed script from "Hairspray" and photos of her parents and grandparents.

Despite taking fire prevention measures, Lake believes the city was unprepared for the scale of the disaster. She expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and asked for continued thoughts for those affected. Lake, who thankfully has insurance, remains determined to rebuild her home and create a "new magical spot."
