A former special needs teaching assistant in British Columbia, Canada, has been dismissed from her position after the school district discovered her OnlyFans account and she refused to shut it down. Kristin MacDonald, who worked for School District 43, maintained the account under the pseudonym "Ava James."
MacDonald received an email on April 28th from the district, instructing her to deactivate all social media accounts associated with "Ava James," including Instagram, TikTok, and OnlyFans. She declined to comply and was subsequently terminated on June 16th.

MacDonald stated that the district cited "egregious" conduct as the reason for her termination, providing several justifications. These included accusations of posting content that "sexualizes the school environment" and allegedly criticizing the district in media appearances. The district also claimed she leveraged the connection between her job and OnlyFans account for personal gain.
While the school district's guidelines regarding employee conduct outside of work are somewhat vague, referring to "appropriate" behavior in a "collective agreement," MacDonald argues this leaves room for interpretation. She maintains that her online activities were not illegal and did not harm anyone. She also emphasized that her work performance was never impacted by her OnlyFans account, and she never received any complaints about her interactions with students.

MacDonald expressed concern about the school's investigation methods, alleging they may have violated OnlyFans' terms of service. She claims the school subscribed to her OnlyFans account using taxpayer money and took screenshots of her content during their three-day investigation, which she believes was presented in a biased manner. She further asserts that sharing this content outside of the OnlyFans platform is against their policies.

MacDonald's motivation for creating the OnlyFans account stemmed from her low teaching assistant salary of $1,000 every two weeks after deductions. She is currently seeking a resolution to the situation and hopes to return to her teaching position, for which she invested two years of college education and incurred student loan debt.

Neither OnlyFans nor School District 43 had responded to requests for comment at the time of the original publication.
