Trump Reinstates Common-Sense Appliance Standards, Reversing Biden's Green Energy Regulations

Former President Donald Trump has directed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to immediately overturn the Biden administration's stricter energy efficiency standards for household appliances. These standards, impacting appliances like gas stoves, washing machines, and dishwashers, had raised concerns among energy experts and manufacturers regarding potential cost increases and reduced effectiveness.

In a Truth Social post, Trump urged EPA head Lee Zeldin to revert to the environmental regulations established during his presidency, emphasizing "common sense standards" for appliances and lightbulbs. He expressed his intention to officially sign these orders.

This move aligns with actions taken by the Republican-led Congress to challenge Biden's green energy initiatives. Representative Stephanie Bice introduced a resolution against new standards for coolers and freezers, while Representative Gary Palmer presented a resolution to counter Biden's ban on certain water heaters. Earlier this year, the House also passed the "Liberty in Laundry Act" to prevent the implementation of potentially unfeasible energy efficiency standards for washing machines.
