Vikings' First-Round Pick Jordan Addison Cited for Excessive Speeding

Minnesota Vikings rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison, the team's first-round draft pick, received a citation for reckless driving early Thursday morning. According to a Minnesota State Police report, Addison was driving a Lamborghini Urus at 140 mph in a 55 mph zone on Interstate 94 near Dale Street. Addison, 21, was selected 23rd overall in the recent NFL Draft out of USC. The Vikings released a statement acknowledging the incident, stating they are aware of the situation and are currently gathering more information.

The 6-foot, 175-pound receiver had a strong showing at USC last season, amassing 875 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 11 games. This followed a highly productive 2021 season at Pitt, where he accumulated 1,593 yards and 18 total touchdowns. Addison was part of a notable run of wide receivers selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, with four receivers chosen consecutively between picks 20 and 24.

Addison is expected to play a key role in the Vikings' offense this season, filling the void left by the departure of veteran Adam Thielen. He is projected to join Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn as primary targets for quarterback Kirk Cousins. It remains to be seen whether the NFL or the Vikings will impose any disciplinary action on Addison following this incident. Rookie players are scheduled to report to training camp this Sunday.
