Whistleblowers' Claims Could Undermine Hunter Biden Investigation, Legal Expert Warns

Allegations from IRS whistleblowers regarding potential interference in the Hunter Biden tax evasion investigation have raised concerns about the probe's integrity. George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley emphasized the importance of distinguishing allegations from proven facts, noting that the whistleblowers' claims require thorough investigation.

However, Turley cautioned that if even a portion of these allegations are substantiated, it could severely damage the credibility of the investigation. He stressed the need to address these serious questions surrounding the case.

The whistleblowers' testimony alleges that officials within the Justice Department, FBI, and IRS interfered with the investigation, potentially influenced by political considerations. One whistleblower, Gary Shapley Jr., who supervised the investigation at the IRS, claimed that decisions throughout the probe appeared to benefit Hunter Biden. He cited instances involving potential references to President Biden, including an email mentioning "ten held by H for the big guy."

Shapley testified that investigators intended to question an associate about this email, but Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf reportedly discouraged inquiries about "the big guy" and "dad," asserting a lack of specific criminality. This decision reportedly upset FBI officials as well.

Shapley stated that nearly everyone present, excluding the prosecutors, strongly disagreed with avoiding questions related to President Biden. These allegations raise significant questions about the impartiality and thoroughness of the investigation.
