Jake Paul has responded to the backlash surrounding his boxing career, particularly his recent match against 58-year-old Mike Tyson. Critics pointed to the significant age difference – Tyson is 31 years Paul's senior – and Tyson's long absence from professional fighting (his last bout was in 2005). Paul, however, leaned into the controversy, jokingly suggesting a 392-year-old shark as his next opponent on social media. This isn't the first time Paul has faced an older opponent; two years ago, he fought 47-year-old UFC fighter Anderson Silva. Despite rumors of a rigged match with Tyson, Paul's Most Valuable Promotions vehemently denied the allegations. Co-founder Nakisa Bidarian emphasized the fight's sanctioning by the athletic commission, the involvement of Netflix, and the presence of professional sports betting, all of which would make rigging the fight a federal crime. Bidarian further pointed to the five-month postponement due to Tyson's ulcer as evidence of the fight's legitimacy. Paul currently boasts an 11-1 record, including six knockouts.
