Tragedy struck on Christmas Eve in Beverly, Massachusetts, when 30-year-old Owen Kasozi was found deceased in Wenham Lake after a multi-agency search. Kasozi was last seen entering the J.C. Phillips Nature Preserve around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, a popular spot for dog walkers, with her dog. When she didn't return, authorities initiated a search.
Beverly Police Chief John G. LeLacheur expressed condolences to Kasozi's family and thanked first responders for their efforts. Kasozi's dog was found safe in Topsfield, Massachusetts.

Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker believes Kasozi likely fell into the icy lake while walking or running along the trail with her dog, unable to escape the frigid water. Tuesday's temperatures were below freezing. While foul play isn't suspected, the official cause of death awaits the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner's investigation.
Tucker acknowledged the tragic outcome and commended the dedication of law enforcement partners during the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day search. He offered sympathies to Kasozi's grieving family.

Kasozi's family, in a GoFundMe page, described her as a vibrant soul whose joyful presence and love for family and friends will be deeply missed. They recounted the heartbreaking accident that claimed her life and expressed their shock and sorrow.
