NFL Coaching Carousel: Predictions for a Busy 'Black Monday'

The NFL regular season's end brings the dreaded "Black Monday," the day notorious for coaching changes. While Thanksgiving football is a cherished tradition, the looming shadow of this day is ever-present for teams struggling to meet expectations.

This year, the speculation surrounding potential coaching dismissals is particularly high. NFL analyst Albert Breer recently suggested on "The Dan Patrick Show" that we could see seven to ten head coaches lose their jobs after a turbulent season for many franchises.

Breer's prediction comes on the heels of two mid-season firings: Dennis Allen of the New Orleans Saints and Robert Saleh of the New York Jets. He also considers Doug Pederson's departure from the Jacksonville Jaguars a near certainty, along with Mike McCarthy's likely exit from the Dallas Cowboys, whose contract expires after Week 18. While Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hasn't ruled out an extension, McCarthy's future seems uncertain given the team's performance this season.

Other coaches whose positions are considered precarious include Brian Daboll (New York Giants), Matt Eberflus (Chicago Bears), Antonio Pierce (Las Vegas Raiders), and Zac Taylor (Cincinnati Bengals). Despite the Giants' struggles, owner John Mara expressed confidence in Daboll and GM Joe Schoen, stating he doesn't anticipate changes in the offseason.

For players, coaches, and front offices alike, the remaining games hold significant weight. Strong performances, even in the absence of playoff contention, can influence personnel decisions and shape the future of franchises. The pressure is on as "Black Monday" approaches.
