The University of South Carolina Athletics Department announced a suspension for their official DJ, known as DJ T.O., following a controversial song choice after the Gamecocks' victory over LSU on Friday. The DJ played the instrumental version of Camoflauge's "Cut Friends," a song deeply personal to LSU star Flau'jae Johnson, whose father, the rapper Camoflauge, was killed six months before her birth.

The incident occurred after South Carolina's 66-56 win, snapping LSU's undefeated streak. DJ T.O. later seemed to acknowledge the gaffe on Instagram, reposting about the song with the phrase "My bad" and a cry-laughing emoji. Johnson, a talented rapper herself who honors her father through her music, expressed her disapproval on X, stating, "I’ll take my L on the chin, but this just nasty behavior. Nun funny bout that."

The University of South Carolina swiftly responded to the incident with a statement acknowledging the DJ's "inappropriate in-game song selection" and subsequent social media post. The school apologized to Johnson, her family, the LSU program, and fans, emphasizing that the rivalry should not involve personal attacks. They highlighted the deserved national attention women's basketball is receiving and expressed regret that the incident overshadowed the game. As a consequence, DJ T.O. will be suspended for the next women's basketball home game and will undergo further education regarding the university's expectations.
